ACS Awarded $73 Million Contract With Department of Justice Immigration And Naturalization Services
DALLAS, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ACS (NYSE: ACS), a premier provider of
business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced
today that it has signed a contract with the Department of Justice Immigration
and Naturalization Service (INS) to process the arrival and departure forms of
foreign students, businessmen, and tourists visiting the United States. It is
a one-year contract with four one-year options that totals $73.8 million over
the five years.
Under the contract, ACS will process millions of Immigration and
Naturalization Service arrival and departure forms over the next five years,
entering them into a national database. An increasingly important task since
the September 11 terrorist attacks, the information will help alert the
Immigration and Naturalization Service about foreign visitors who remain in
the country after their visas expire.
ACS' business process outsourcing (BPO) services will help the government
maintain better and more timely information on visitors to the country. ACS
will be responsible for capturing data from the arrival and departure forms of
non-immigrants collected at ports of entry. The information will be captured,
digitized, and then sent electronically to update the Non-Immigrant
Information System (NIIS). Student and school system forms will also be sent
to ACS for data capture from ports of entry to update information systems.
"ACS won out on merit," said U.S. Representative Ernie Fletcher. "ACS is
a top-notch company that will be able to do the country a great service."
The ACS operations that will handle the account are based in Kentucky and
currently employ more than 1,700 people statewide. This contract will allow
ACS to create some 100 new jobs at its data-entry centers in Beattyville and
London, Kentucky.
ACS, a Fortune 1000 company with more than 30,000 people in 29 countries,
