LOS ANGELES, Jan. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Gas Co. (The Gas
Company) today reported no Y2K-related problems.
As part of its Y2K preparedness efforts, The Gas Company opened its
Emergency Operations Center and had employees on duty around the clock to
monitor the companies information systems, as well as its natural gas
transmission and distribution pipelines, and to respond quickly to any
potential problems.
"I am pleased to report there are no Y2K-related problems in our
operations," said Debbie Reed, president of The Gas Company's energy
distribution services. "My thanks go out to the many Gas Company employees
who have worked diligently over the past three years to plan and carry out an
intensive Y2K-readiness program to ensure that our customers enjoyed seamless
energy service with the changeover to the new millennium."
Since 1996, when The Gas Company began its Y2K preparedness effort, the

systems as needed. After changes were made, The Gas Company tested its
systems. Since June 30, 1999, all of The Gas Company's systems involved with
energy delivery, safety and keeping the business running smoothly have been
assessed to be Y2K ready.
