WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Century Bancshares, Inc.
(Nasdaq: CTRY) Century National Bank celebrated the New Year and the New
Century this morning. Joseph S. Bracewell, Century's Chairman and CEO, and
the senior management team verified that all systems and equipment are working
normally, as expected, in each of the bank's six offices in Washington, DC,
Maryland and Virginia.
Mr. Bracewell said that "The Y2K preparations, which began more than
2 years ago, involved new equipment and upgrades to virtually all of the
bank's systems and procedures. As a result, Century National Bank has been
able to deliver new and improved banking products, financial services and
customer support. The celebration this morning confirmed that all of the
bank's systems have been operating in a Y2K compliant mode for more than six
months."
