LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Grainger today announced the
election of two new officers: Richard J. Reese, Vice President, Corporate
Architecture; and George C. Rimnac, Jr., Vice President & Chief Technologist.
Grainger is the leading North American provider of maintenance, repair, and
operating (MRO) supplies and related information to businesses and
institutions.
In this newly created position, Mr. Reese is responsible for leveraging
current and future investments in technology across operating business units
within Grainger. Mr. Reese joined the Company in October 1997 as Executive
Director, Information Services for emerging businesses. Prior to joining the
Company, he served as Director, Systems Architecture for Novus Services, Inc.
(Discover Card). Before that, he was a Certified Systems Architect for IBM.
Mr. Rimnac, in his newly created position, is responsible for providing
vision and direction for new technology endeavors, and identifying
advancements in technology that create a competitive advantage. Mr. Rimnac
joined the Company in 1978 and has held increasingly responsible positions in
Information Services. He most recently served as Chief Technologist. Prior
to that, he served as Director, Emerging Technology.
These positions were created to provide continuing focus and talent to the
Company's Internet initiatives. In 1996, Grainger pioneered offering
customers the option of doing business on its initial Website, grainger.com.
This site has been enhanced and two additional sites have been added:
OrderZone.com and FindMRO.com. The Company's sales through the Internet have
grown dramatically in 1999, finishing the year at more than $100 million, up
