B.C. Ziegler and Company Finds Y2K Smooth Sailing

WEST BEND, Wis., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- B.C. Ziegler and Company, an
investment banking, investment services and consulting firm, experienced no
problems connected with the Y2K date change on January 1.
Jack Downer, vice president and director of information services for the
firm, said a comprehensive verification process conducted throughout 1999 of
internal systems and critical suppliers to the firm found no problems related
to the Y2K problem. "Our firm has seen two world wars, the Great Market Crash
of 1929, the Great Depression and tremendous social changes. The Y2K situation
was a problem, but one that we readily attacked. We had confidence in our
preparation and the securities industry's preparation for Y2K," Downer said.
The firm had staff from various technical and other disciplines work through
the change of date, throughout the weekend. Downer said. The staff conducted
monitoring, testing and verification routines that touched all aspects of the
business, from telecommunications to security systems he said.
B.C. Ziegler and Company conducted business as usual when the markets
opened for the first sessions of 2000 on January 3. "Just as what occurs every
business day, we were ready for trading and other transactions on January 3,"
said Chuck Stevens, vice president and director of marketing. "The securities
industry was exhaustive in its preparation, including a comprehensive series
of tests in 1999," said Stevens. "It was imperative that our preparation was
meticulous and it was," Stevens added.
B.C. Ziegler and Company is a full-service brokerage firm providing
investment banking and capital markets services, and investment services and
consulting for individuals, corporations and institutions.
