Funds Will Help Provide Meals, Shelter and Other Basic Emergency Services to
Victims
NEW YORK, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- TD Waterhouse USA today announced a
contribution of $25,000 to the American Red Cross to assist victims in the
Asian countries most impacted by the recent earthquake and tsunamis that
struck the region.
The funds will be donated through the American Red Cross to help the
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and local Red
Cross and Red Crescent Societies throughout Asia.
"We are deeply saddened by devastation caused by the tsunamis in Asia and
wanted to offer our support," said Tim Pinnington, CEO of TD Waterhouse USA.
"The tsunami in Southeast Asia has resulted in one of the worst natural
disasters in recent history, and we hope our donation will help provide relief
to the extensive recovery efforts that are underway."
In addition, TD Waterhouse USA's parent company, TD Bank Financial Group
has made donations totaling $250,000 Canadian to several charities supporting
the relief efforts.
