Tyson Pledges Up to $1 Million in Cash and Food to Relief Effort

    SPRINGDALE, Ark., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyson Foods, Inc.
(NYSE: TSN) and its Team Members will donate up to $1 million in food and
financial aid to help survivors of the tsunami tragedy, company officials
reported today.
    Tyson will provide shelf-stable foods and match Team Member donations
dollar for dollar, for a total contribution of up to $1 million.  Company
officials indicate the food and funds will be given through the American Red
Cross, Salvation Army, Feed the Children, UNICEF, Islamic Relief and Catholic
Relief Services.
    "Like many others across the world, we're shocked and saddened by the
devastation in southern Asia and east Africa," John Tyson, chairman and CEO of
Tyson Foods, said.  "Though our company has no operations or Team Members
based there, we want to help.  We hope our donations will provide some relief
to the thousands who are in need."
    Details of Tyson's donation efforts are still being finalized.  The
company's 114,000 Team Members will be notified later this week how their
contributions will be collected and matched.  Company officials hope to
complete the process and send the donation to the designated relief
organizations within the next few weeks.
