COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- After successfully passing the
century date changeover, Total System Services, Inc.(R) (NYSE: TSS) (TSYS(R)),
today announced that its systems are Y2K OK. TSYS had no internal or external
issues concerning Y2K, and all TSYS companies, systems, facilities and clients
processed and continue to process without incident.
Bearing an impressive client roster of some of the largest banks and
retailers, TSYS was deemed an important U.S. service provider by the federal
government, and a representative from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
(FDIC) was on hand to observe TSYS maneuver the century date transition.
"The TSYS team met the challenge of the century and conquered it. We
prepared for this historical event well in advance with many hours of work
from our dedicated team members including three rounds of testing with clients
and thorough internal testing," said Richard W. Ussery, TSYS Chairman of the
Board and CEO. "We are very pleased that our systems performed so well, and
that for us and our customers, it was business as usual."
The transition from Dec. 31, 1999, to Jan. 1, 2000, was not the only
critical time period for TSYS. Because of its processing schedules and
systems, the time frame from Friday, Dec. 31, until Wednesday, Jan. 5, was
critical to the Company's success, but thanks to lots of hard work and
preparation, this extended time frame shaped up to be a nonevent.
"During this critical time period, TSYS provided extra staff and
management 24-hours a day. A central command center was established to
oversee this weekend. There were also 13 sub-command posts to supervise the
century transition from a departmental level," said Ussery.
"TSYS' team members were committed to the Y2K effort, and I would like to
personally thank all team members who, without their devotion, none of this
would have been possible, " Ussery concluded.
