Solectron Experiences Successful Year 2000 Rollover

Business As Usual for Worldwide Operations

MILPITAS, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Solectron Corporation
(NYSE: SLR), the world's premier supply-chain facilitator for customized
electronics technology, manufacturing and service solutions, today confirmed
it experienced no operational or administrative problems as a result of the
transition to the year 2000.
"We have successfully navigated the New Year rollover without incident
primarily due to the extraordinary commitment of all of our more than
42,000 associates worldwide," said Ko Nishimura, Ph.D., Solectron's chairman,
president and CEO. "We said we expected Jan. 1, 2000, to be a day like any
other day, and we are proud to be able to deliver on that assurance."
While the New Year rollover was potentially the most critical period, it
is possible that computer-related problems may not appear for weeks or even
months from now. While the smooth transaction of the New Year is a very
encouraging sign, Solectron will continue to diligently monitor its systems
for any Year 2000 computer-related problems in the coming months.
Solectron's extensive and detailed preparations for the Year 2000
transition simultaneously strengthened the company's core processes and
procedures. Lessons learned from the Year 2000 program will now be applied to
other aspects of the company's worldwide business.
