WARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for the five fiscal weeks ended
January 1, 2000 increased 36.7% to $159.8 million from $116.9 million for the
five-week period ended January 2, 1999. Comparable sales for the 1999 period
were up 16.9% compared to the corresponding five-week period last year.
Sales for the forty-eight weeks ended January 1, 2000 were $790.3 million
compared to the $555.3 million for the forty-eight week period last year, an
increase of 42.3%. Comparable store sales for the forty-eight weeks ended
January 1, 2000 increased 21.5% compared to the corresponding forty-eight week
period ended January 2, 1999.
