WARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for the five fiscal weeks ended
January 2, 1999 increased 35.3% to $116.9 million from $86.4 million for the
five week period ended January 3, 1998. Comparable sales for the 1998 period
were up 20.9% compared to the corresponding five week period last year.
Sales for the forty-eight weeks ended January 2, 1999 were $555.3 million
compared to $384.3 million for the forty-eight week period last year, an
increase of 44.5%. Comparable store sales for the forty-eight weeks ended
January 2, 1999 increased 32.0%, compared to the corresponding forty-eight
week period ended January 3, 1998.
