Learn How to Effectively Leverage Your Media Relations Program At Jan. 21 IABC/Detroit Meeting

    DETROIT, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Unless your topic is controversial or is
dealing with tragedy, it's a challenge to get the general media to place your
information where you want it, and where you need it.  The Detroit chapter of
the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Detroit) will
host a Wednesday, Jan. 21 professional development program discussing how to
effectively work with assignment editors to tell your story.  The meeting will
be held at the Westin Hotel, 1500 Town Center, Southfield, from 11:45 a.m. -
1:30 p.m.
    Bill Proctor, senior staff reporter at WXYZ-TV, channel 7 in Detroit, will
share his insights on how to get your company's name in the Rolodex of
assignment editors and turn the spotlight on your issue, product, service or
area of expertise.
    "This is a good example of the outstanding programs IABC/Detroit has lined
up for 2004," said Cindy Orlandi, APR, president of IABC/Detroit and principal
of Cyndosura.  "In addition to media relations, upcoming IABC/Detroit
professional development programs will feature crisis and internal
