     - 32" and 21" Cybertube+ SuperSlim now available in market

     - 29" Cybertube+ SuperSlim prototype shown for the first time

    LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- LG.Philips Displays, the world's leading
cathode ray tube (CRT) display maker, announced today the US debut of its new
product series, the Cybertube+ SuperSlim.
The slim CPT (color picture tubes) gives the CRT TVs an excellent flat and
stylish design, comparable with plasma or LCD TVs, but with more affordable
price tags. Similar to the European and Asian markets where the SuperSlim has
been launched, the innovative product is expected to get favorable reviews
from the U.S. market.
Driving its unique flat-screen optimization, LG.Philips Displays' 32" and
21" SuperSlim CPTs measure only 35cm from front- to back-end, delivering an
impressive depth reduction of 30 and 20 percent respectively, compared with
any other CRT.
Both 32" and 21" TV sets using LG.Philips Displays' SuperSlim CPT would
measure approximately 38cm, far thinner and more compact than the current 54cm
and 51cm TV sets respectively.
These products will be on display during a private show hosted by
LG.Philips Displays alongside the CES 2005 in Las Vegas. The show is at the
Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from January 6-9.

    Cost of Ownership reductions
The introduction of Cybertube+ SuperSlim technology enhances affordable
display offerings which are in demand in the U.S. market.
SuperSlim lowers cost-of-ownership for TV set makers through less
packaging materials and storage costs as well as increased cargo density, thus
achieving logistics savings.
For consumers, SuperSlim provides stylish and trendy design and offers
space savings due to its slim outlook. At the same time, they enjoy the
advantages of CRT's superior picture performance at affordable prices.
"To further strengthen our partnership with our customers, we bring to
them our commitment to continuously innovate and deliver products with the
best picture quality at the most competitive prices. The SuperSlim product
range is a breakthrough in the display industry. With our SuperSlim products,
we bring television to the masses. We give them slim TVs that have top picture
quality at affordable prices," said Wiebo Vaartjes, Chief Sales Officer,
LG.Philips Displays. "With our breakthrough Cybertube+ SuperSlim, we inject
new pride in the CRT industry and bring our technology's advantages to the
end-consumers," he added.

    Product family
With increased time-to-market consideration, LG.Philips Displays is
speedily reaching out to market requests, and is now showing in record time
the first 29" SuperSlim prototype. This is currently in development stage.
LG.Philips Displays will for the first time show the 29" prototype in the
private show.
The company has announced the production of its revolutionary 32"
SuperSlim in its Gumi, Korea manufacturing site. In addition, the company also
said it has started the 21" SuperSlim production in its Nanjing, China
manufacturing site.
The expansion of the mass production program follows the successful
introduction of 21" SuperSlim in Europe, which made LG.Philips Displays the
industry's first player to launch the slim CPT in the world. Production of the
21" tube was started in early 2004 in the company's plant in Durham, England.

    Mainstream TV Products
A report made by a US-based research agency forecasts that the majority of
TV sets produced worldwide are and will continue to be based on CRT (Cathode
Ray Tube) technology. According to this report, more than 80 percent of TV
sets to be manufactured in 2006 will use CRT display technology.
Since the introduction of Cybertube+ SuperSlim to the market, LG.Philips
Displays has received keen interest from the world's top TV set makers to
co-design the new products. A large number of TV set makers have already
committed to adopt LG.Philips Displays SuperSlim technology in their products.
It is estimated that Cybertube+ SuperSlim annual volume can reach one million
units by 2005.
At the CES 2005, the first customer of LG.Philips Displays to introduce
the 32" Widescreen Real Flat (WSRF) using the Cybertube+ SuperSlim is LG
Electronics.
