SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Syscan Imaging, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: SYII), announced today that it would be presenting both a
15" and 30" version of its LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlighting technology
for LCD televisions as well as additional ground breaking products at the 2005
Consumer Electronics Show.
The use of super LED's as a backlighting source for the featured 15" and
30" LCD televisions is the result of the R&D efforts geared towards the
Company's expansion from image capture products into the image display area.
Currently the industry standard for LCD panel backlighting is the Cold Cathode
Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL). LED backlighting technology significantly expands
the achievable color gamut while enabling the ability to digitally manage
white-point, color, and brightness, creating near lifelike high definition
image reproduction and reducing moving artifacts. Equally important, the use
of this technology as a light source also significantly extends the product's
longevity and will potentially lead to cost savings.
The Company will also be previewing its new ViewTech 303 control board, a
high performance video processor that combines state-of-the-art scaling and
video processing techniques that greatly enhance the display of analog and
digital video/graphics on LCD-TV/DTV displays. Its state-of-the-art design
incorporates system-on-chip (SOC) technology that improves any pixilated
multimedia video. The ViewTech 303 control board, for use with current CCFL
technology, is the precursor to the digital management system that will be
utilized in the Company's LED Back Lighting products.
Expanding the Company's image capture business, it will preview the new
DocketPORT 485 mobile scanner. This A4 scanning area, color, true duplex-high
speed mobile image scanning device is designed to operate at low power
consumption from a computer's USB Bus making it ideal for use with laptop
computers. The DocketPORT 485 is the first of a series of products that will
focus on the demand for mobile high-speed duplex image scanning. The 485
joins the Company's successful line of low power consumption, mobile image
capture products and will ship in Q1 of 2005.
"We are excited to be presenting at an event as broadly recognized as the
annual Consumer Electronics Show", said Darwin Hu, SYII's President and CEO,
"Recent developments in LED technology have allowed for many unexpected uses
in non traditional applications. This specific application of a new
technology is the first of many new technology solutions to come from the
companies Image Display Research and Development Group." Said Mr. Hu,
"Parallel to these efforts our Image Capture Group continues to produce ground
breaking new products as seen with the DocketPORT 485 that will allow Syscan
to continue expanding its market share of the Mobile Image Scanning industry."
