Supra HD Processors Shown at CES 2005 Greatly Reduce Overall DTV System Costs
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zoran Corporation
(Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that it has integrated the capabilities of five
separate components into its new SupraHD family of high definition television
processors including the video decoder, HDMI receiver, 1394, audio DAC, and an
advanced video processing engine to control and directly drive LCD and other
high definition television displays.
The new SupraHD products, demonstrated this week at CES 2005 in Las Vegas,
greatly reduce the overall system cost for manufacturers of digital
televisions.
"Major retail chains are expected to begin promotional campaigns in the
second half of 2005 to further raise consumer awareness of the superior
picture quality of high definition televisions. Zoran's highly integrated
SupraHD product family vastly reduces the overall system cost for our DTV
OEMs. In addition, it enables our major DTV customers to meet the FCC mandate,
provide ATSC-compliant products, and deliver cost-competitive digital
televisions quickly to market for what promises to be a year of accelerated
HDTV adoption by the consumer," said Ram Ofir, senior vice president and

The first two members of the SupraHD family, SHD-660 and SHD-680, set new
standards in system integration for digital television chassis, combining
traditional digital functions and highly integrated connectivity with advanced
capabilities for analog video capture and display. These single-chip solutions
contain an advanced video processing engine to control and drive LCDs, rear
and front projection, and plaza displays.
The SHD-660 (ZR39660) includes a digital terrestrial reception, ATSC
compliant HDTV decoder and, the SHD-680 (ZR39680) adds further support for
Unidirectional Digital Cable (UDC) and a CableCard interface.
Complete reference platforms are available now for qualified Zoran
customers.
