GN Netcom's New GN 1000 Uses Innovative Technology to Offer a More
Reliable, User-Friendly Product
NASHUA, N.H., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- GN Netcom, the innovation leader in
hands-free telephony, is pleased to announce the introduction of the GN 1000,
a new, second generation remote handset lifter for users of wireless telephony
products that adapts to any virtually any phone. The new device uses
innovative technology in ring detection and drive motors to enable users to
reliably answer and end calls while away from their desks.

The patented new ring detection technology was developed in conjunction
with sister company GN ReSound, the leading international manufacturer of
advanced technology hearing instruments. The GN 1000's ring detector uses a "t
coil" to detect the magnetic field naturally created by speakers when sound is
emitted. As a result, the GN 1000 does not react to frustrating ambient noise.
Instead, it alerts the user to an incoming call only when it senses the
magnetic field produced by a ringing speaker. The mechanical workings of the
GN 1000 leverage state-of-the-art technology from precision electronics like
DVD players for quiet, reliable operation.
"This innovative complement to a wireless headset will give professionals
the freedom to leave their desks without worrying about missing any important
calls," says Tobe Cohen, senior vice president, marketing, GN Netcom, Inc.
"The improved ring detection technology of the GN 1000 Remote Handset Lifter,
combined with superior mechanical workings and its compatibility with
virtually any existing phone, make it a must-have device for any hands-free
telephony user."
The GN 1000 is simple to set up and use. Its state-of -the-art drive motor
makes it both extremely durable and among the quietest of any remote handset
lifter. In fact, lab testing has proven it will lift and replace the heaviest
handset more than 100,000 times. The GN 1000 will be available in North
America for USD $75 as of January 8, 2003 through GN Netcom distributors and
HelloDirect! A European version with CE approvals is expected later in 2003.
"Busy professionals can be even more mobile with the GN 1000, as it allows
them to answer, conduct and end calls all over the office," Cohen adds.
