WEST KINGSTON, RI UNITED STATES
APC Introduces the Universal Notebook Battery in 50, 70 and 90 Watt-hours

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Power Conversion
(Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), a global leader in power availability solutions,
today announced three additions to its award-winning line of mobile
accessories, the APC Universal Notebook Battery 50, 70 and 90, designed to
enhance the availability of power for mobile solutions. Lightweight and
portable, APC's Universal Notebook Batteries are the only external notebook
batteries designed to operate in a notebook case or beneath a laptop
computer, giving mobile users more runtime for their computers while
traveling.

"APC is pleased to continue offering mobile users more ways to power
critical electronic devices, such as notebook computers," said Joe Loberti,
APC's vice president of Home and Distributed Systems. "With the
introduction of the Universal Notebook Battery 50, 70 and 90, APC provides
consumers with power options that allow them to remain available and
productive while traveling."
These new models feature the following capabilities:
    * Universal Notebook Battery 50 - is an external power supply that
provides up to four hours of additional runtime depending on the
notebook model and its performance settings. Weighing just under a
pound, the Universal Notebook Battery 50 fits easily in a notebook case
or next to the computer in tight spaces, such as on an airplane tray
table. Currently available in North America, the Universal Notebook
Battery 50 carries an estimated resale price of $99.99 (UPB50).
    * Universal Notebook Battery 70 - is a slim external battery designed to
fit easily under a notebook computer and provide up to six hours of
additional runtime depending on the notebook model and its performance
settings. An integrated USB port supplies a 5V power source for USB-
powered mobile devices using the manufacturer cables; however, APC
recommends the use of APC's USB Charging Cables (sold separately) to
ensure compatibility. Currently available in North America, the
Universal Notebook Battery 70 carries an estimated resale price of
      $149.99 (UPB70).
    * Universal Notebook Battery 90 - features 90 watt-hours of power in a
slim footprint that can rest underneath a notebook computer with up to
eight hours of additional runtime depending on the notebook model and
its performance settings. Two USB ports supply power over 5V to USB-
powered mobile devices, providing additional opportunities to power and
charge critical accessories, such as an iPod(R) and BlackBerry(R). The
Universal Notebook Battery 90 also features an LCD screen that provides
real-time status information such as battery capacity, recharge time and
battery load, as well as input and output voltage. Available in North
America in the first quarter 2007, the Universal Notebook Battery 90
carries an estimated resale price of $199.99 (UPB90).
Easy to set up and use, APC's Universal Notebook Batteries are
compatible with most leading brands of notebook computers, include a
variety of 'notebook tips' and allow users to select the required voltage.
An Input/Output power port provides a simple way to charge and power the
Universal Notebook Batteries using an APC Universal Power Adapter or the
original OEM notebook power adapter. APC's Universal Notebook Battery 70
and 90 use lithium polymer battery cells, an advanced battery technology
with a high power density, to create a compact, lightweight, solution with
high power output. They are ideal for long business trips or charging the
battery of a notebook when AC power is not available.
In addition to stand-alone use, the Universal Notebook Batteries work
with APC's entire family of Power Ready(TM) Notebook Cases, which have
special pockets to hold mobile devices and offer cable routing to neatly
hide charging cables. APC's Power Ready Notebook Cases help individuals
keep all of their mobile devices charged, organized and easily accessible
while on the go. APC will exhibit these new notebook batteries, along with
its other power protection, mobility and AV products, at the 2007
International CES from January 8-11 in booth 21862 South Hall 1. For more
