NEC Electronics America Showcases Solutions Based on Certified Wireless USB Technology at CES 2007

    CES 2007, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Electronics America,
Inc. announced it is exhibiting solutions based on Certified Wireless USB
technology in the WiMedia TechZone, booth 13544I, Central Hall, at the
International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 8 through 11 at the

    WiMedia TechZone Demonstration
    NEC Electronics America will demonstrate its CardBus-type host
controller (part number uPD720170), based on Certified Wireless USB
technology, and two device wire adapters (DWA) (part number uPD720180), to
illustrate how NEC Electronics' implementation supports multiple DWA
connections, as described in the standard.
    Wireless USB
    NEC Electronics is a leading supplier of USB solutions for worldwide
customers and was the first company to introduce a USB 2.0 host controller,
hub controller and device controller. With a USB 2.0 product line-up that
includes ASSPs and ASICs, the company has shipped more than 100 million USB
2.0 products. NEC Electronics continues to drive the development of next-
generation interface technology and has successfully completed the
specifications for Certified Wireless USB with the Wireless USB Promoter
Group. The company offers a new host controller (uPD720170) based on
Certified Wireless USB technology that enables high-speed wireless
transmission of data between personal computers (PCs) and PC peripherals
such as printers, external storage equipment and digital cameras. The host
controller will be used in mobile phones and other consumer-type electronic
devices as Certified Wireless USB technology is adopted in those markets.
