MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SurroMed, Inc., a privately
held company, focused on biomarker discovery, today announced that Dr. Gordon
Ringold, Ph.D., the Company's chairman and chief executive officer, will
present at the 20th Annual J.P. Morgan Hambrecht and Quist (H&Q) Healthcare
Conference at 8am PST, Thursday, January 10th.
Dr. Ringold will describe how SurroMed is addressing the need for new
strategies and technologies for molecular phenotyping and biological marker
discovery with the goal of improving the understanding of disease and the
pharmaceutical industry's ability to develop new therapeutic products
efficiently and cost effectively. SurroMed employs a highly integrative
approach to molecular phenotyping and biological marker discovery in humans
that combines patient clinical signs and symptoms obtained by physical
examination with broad bioanalytical profiling and measurement of blood, urine
and other biological samples with SurroMed's proprietary technologies. These
technologies will enable the more precise diagnosis and treatment of human
disease including discovery of new biomarkers, and identification of early
toxicity to enhance the drug development process. SurroMed is currently
applying its technologies in clinical studies of arthritis, respiratory and
neurological disease as well as diabetes.
About SurroMed, Inc.
Headquartered in Mountain View, California, SurroMed uses its integrated
phenotyping and biological marker discovery platform to better understand the
root causes of disease and the factors underlying patient-to-patient
variations in disease presentation, progression and response to therapy.
Discoveries arising from its research will enable improved, cost-efficient
discovery and development of therapeutic and diagnostic products. SurroMed's
phenotyping and biological marker discovery platform incorporates advanced
proprietary technologies for profiling and analysis of hundreds of immune cell
populations, proteins and low-molecular-weight organic molecules (such as
sugars, peptides or lipids) in small volumes of blood and/or other biological
samples, while maintaining complete patient confidentiality. By capturing and
analyzing enormous amounts of clinical and biological information in a
massively parallel fashion to identify useful biological markers, SurroMed
plans to enable the precise diagnosis and effective treatment of disease.
