School groups interested in attending the fourth annual Automotive
Education Day can register at http://www.naias.com/aed2008.htm . Registration for
this one-day educational event will continue through Friday, January 11,
2008 at 5 p.m.

"Over the last three years, the response to Automotive Education Day
has been tremendous," said Carl Galeana, NAIAS 2008 senior co-chairman.
"Students come away from this experience with a strong understanding of how
a good education leads to many opportunities within the automotive industry
and related fields, while having fun, too. There's also the added bonus of
an up- close view of amazing exhibits and incredible production and concept
vehicles."

This year thousands of students from a variety of schools throughout
southeast Michigan, surrounding states and Windsor, Ontario (Canada's
border city) are expected to participate. State Farm Insurance
representatives will provide all students with backpacks, interactive games
and prizes for correct quiz questions during the program beginning promptly
at 8:30 a.m.

"The NAIAS stimulates the metro Detroit area with a sense of
excitement," said Joe Serra, NAIAS 2008 co-chairman. "It is good for the
students to see that kind of excitement and buzz generated by an industry
that continues to have strong ties to the southeast Michigan region."

Confirmed exhibitor participants for 2008 include American Red Cross SE
Michigan Chapter, BMW, Chrysler, General Motors, DENSO, Ferris State
University, Macomb Community College, Michigan Secretary of State,
Northwood University, SAE International's A World in Motion (AWIM) program,
Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), State Farm Insurance
and Walsh College. NAIAS exhibitors interested in participating in
Automotive Education Day may contact Lacey Lambert at llambert@dada.org.

Additionally, SAE International will partner with NAIAS 2008 to bring a
teacher's lounge to Automotive Education Day. Teachers will have the
opportunity to learn more about SAE International AWIM curriculum, a highly
interactive educational program for K-12 students.

The AWIM curriculum joins teachers, students and industry volunteers in
an exploration of physical science while addressing essential
mathematic/scientific concepts and skills. Industry volunteers play an
essential role in motivating the next generation to pursue careers in
science, technology, engineering and math by sharing their everyday
experiences into an AWIM classroom.

At the NAIAS, teachers will receive kits containing collateral material
explaining AWIM and some of its projects. Interested teachers will work
individually, or in small groups, with an AWIM representative and there
will be an opportunity for the teachers to see online videos. The AWIM high
school program in specifically geared toward the study of electricity and
electronics.

AWIM is used in all 50 states and in ten of Canada's 13 provinces and
territories. More than 60,000 AWIM kits have been shipped to schools since
1990. More than 3.75 million students have participated in AWIM and more
than 15,000 volunteer engineers have been involved in AWIM programs. AWIM
programs received support from corporations, foundations, SAE International
members and SAE Foundation resources. Find out more about AWIM at
