BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Torchmark Corporation
(NYSE: TMK) reported today that Andrew W. King, 48, has been appointed
President and Chief Marketing Officer of Torchmark subsidiary Liberty National
Life Insurance Company in Birmingham. At the time of the appointment, Mr.
King was President, Exclusive Agency Division (Branch Office) at Torchmark
subsidiary, United American Insurance Company, McKinney, Texas, a position he
had held since 1999.
Mr. King joined Torchmark subsidiary Globe Life and Accident Insurance
Company's Roanoke, Virginia sales office as a Field Representative in 1980,
rising through various field management positions to Director of Agencies at
Globe Life. In 1990 he joined Liberty National as Regional Vice President and
where he was subsequently named Director and Senior Vice President, Marketing.
He transferred to United American as Senior Vice President, Branch Office, in
1995.
Anthony McWhorter, CEO of Liberty, said that because of Mr. King's success
at United American in developing modern internet-based agent recruiting
techniques that resulted in expanded producers and sales in the Branch Office
system, he is confident that Mr. King can bring that same level of success to
Liberty.
