                                    Rating

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs and Maisonette in Cincinnati Are
Guiding Stars With Most Consecutive Five-Star Awards

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The stars have come out for the
"best of the best" in lodgings and restaurants.
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) today announced that 24 lodgings and
18 restaurants have won the coveted 2000 Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star Award.
Equally impressive, 210 lodgings and 215 restaurants have achieved the Mobil
Travel Guide Four-Star Award this year.
"This year's Mobil Four- and Five-Star Award winners should feel
especially proud for keeping up with the increasing demands and expectations
of today's travelers," said Lucio A. Noto, vice chairman, Exxon Mobil
Corporation. "We congratulate all of our winners for continuing to raise the
bar of service and excellence in the travel industry."
Among the 42 shining stars that earned the prestigious 2000 Mobil Travel
Guide Five-Star Award, six lodgings and seven restaurants joined the ranks
this year, including:

     Lodgings

L'Ermitage, Beverly Hills, CA Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, CA
Four Seasons, Atlanta, GA Four Seasons, Chicago, IL
Four Seasons, Boston, MA Fearrington House, Pittsboro, NC

     Restaurants
Mary Elaine's, Scottsdale, AZ Seeger's, Atlanta, GA
Ginza Sushiko, Beverly Hills, CA Gary Danko's, San Francisco, CA
Picasso, Las Vegas, NV Renoir, Las Vegas, NV
     Daniel, Manhattan, NY

These establishments enter an elite category of lodgings and restaurants
that uphold the Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star standards of excellence,
including The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, which has won the most
consecutive Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star Awards in lodging (40 years), and
Maisonette in Cincinnati, which has won the most consecutive Mobil Travel
Guide Five-Star Awards in dining (36 years).
Receiving the Mobil Travel Guide Four-Star Award is also an impressive
feat and this year's winners include 210 lodgings and 215 restaurants. "A
Mobil Travel Guide Four-Star rating signifies that the lodging or restaurant
is highly distinguished and very close to perfection and has earned the
characteristics of being 'outstanding' and 'worth a special trip'," said Mark
A. Jacobson, program manager, Exxon Mobil Corporation. "Four- and Five-Star
lodgings and restaurants are exceptional, which explains why they represent
only 2.5 percent of all lodgings and restaurants that are rated by Mobil
Travel Guide."
Mobil Travel Guide differentiates itself from other travel award programs
through their ratings committee, an independent network of national culinary
and hospitality experts, which evaluates lodgings and restaurants from the
traveler's or diner's point of view. This team of experts rates each property
based on set criteria and only lists properties that meet Mobil Travel Guide
standards.
The 2000 Mobil Travel Guides can be found in bookstores nationwide
beginning today and are available in seven volumes including Northeast, Mid-
Atlantic, Southeast, California and the West, Southwest and South Central,
Northwest and Great Plains, and Great Lakes. Travelers can also find the
brightest stars in the travel industry in Mobil Travel Guide America's Best
Hotels and Restaurants: The Four- and Five-Star Winners of 2000.
The 2000 Mobil Travel Guide series provides the most comprehensive, up-to-
date information on more than 22,000 lodging and dining establishments in more
than 3,500 cities and towns throughout North America. "Every hotel and
restaurant listed in the Mobil Travel Guides signifies a positive
recommendation, ranging from the basic to the elaborate," says Jacobson.
