announced the appointment of Gene Schaeffer as the Company's Vice President of
Sales for the Americas and Europe. Gene is a semiconductor veteran of 20 years
and brings to Sipex extensive industry experience.

Before joining Sipex, Mr. Schaeffer served as the Vice President of
Strategic Accounts at Cypress Semiconductor. During his 8-year career with
Cypress, Mr. Schaeffer held positions of increasing responsibility in sales
management including Vice President Channel Sales, Vice President Americas
Sales, Director Strategic Accounts and Lucent Strategic Account Manager. Mr.
Schaeffer started his semiconductor career in Distribution sales and spent
8-years at a manufacturers' representative firm in the Mid-Atlantic market.
