The Phoenician and Mary Elaine's Restaurant Earn Prestigious Mobil Five-Star Awards

The Phoenician is One of Five Properties in the U.S. with Five-Star Ratings
                      For Both Accommodations and Dining

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Exxon Mobil Corporation
announced the recipients of the prestigious 2001 Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star
Awards and have again included The Phoenician and its fine-dining restaurant,
Mary Elaine's. The Phoenician is a member of The Luxury Collection of White
Plains-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT).
One of only five properties in the United States with Five-Star ratings
for both accommodations and dining, The Phoenician and Mary Elaine's are also
the only establishments in Arizona to earn the coveted ranking for 2001. The
resort's Terrace Dining Room was awarded Four-Stars for the second consecutive
year.
"We are proud and thrilled to be recognized by Mobil Travel Guide with
such esteemed honors for the resort and our dining rooms," stated Beth Thomas,
resort manager for The Phoenician. "We will remain committed to provide
excellence in all aspects of service with the intent to continually enhance
our guests' experience," she added.
The Mobil Travel Guide ratings committee -- an independent network of
national culinary and hospitality experts, which evaluate lodgings and
restaurants from the traveler's or diner's point of view -- selects the
Five-Star winners. Only 25 lodgings and 17 restaurants across the United
States and Canada merited Five-Stars for 2001, out of more than 22,000 lodging
and dining establishments listed in the Mobil Travel Guide.
Long celebrated for its award-winning Modern French cuisine and
European-style service, Mary Elaine's is headed up by Chef de Cuisine James
Boyce and Restaurant Manager Todd Orlich. Other recent accolades for Mary
Elaine's include a first place ranking in Arizona from the 2001 Zagat Survey;
the "Grand Award" from Wine Spectator magazine; "Best Wine List" from Food &
Wine magazine; and the impressive Five Diamond distinction from the Automobile
Association of America.
The Phoenician is located on 250 acres of lush desert terrain at the base
of Camelback Mountain, and is owned and operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts
Worldwide as part of The Luxury Collection. The 654-room destination resort
offers elegant accommodations, 27 holes of championship golf, 12 tennis courts
