Minnesota High Tech Association, Minnesota Technology, Inc. to Serve On Respective Boards of Directors

Move Spawns Partnership on MTI's Technology Awareness Forums

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The presidents of the Minnesota High
Tech Association (MHTA) and Minnesota Technology, Inc. (MTI) will join one
another's Board of Directors to further collaborative efforts by the two
organizations. Kate Rubin, President of MHTA, will join MTI's Board and Dr.
Wayne Pletcher, the new President of MTI (and former Board Chair of MHTA while
at 3M), will join MHTA's Board.
"Both MHTA and MTI have many common interests, and chief among them is to
help Minnesota businesses grow and thrive," Pletcher said. "Through
information sharing and mutual education, each of our respective organizations
can better serve our customers."
In addition to board membership, the organizations have spawned a
partnership to organize and promote a series of Technology Awareness Forums.
By working together on this project, MHTA and MTI can reach out to a larger
number of people than they might otherwise do on their own. The MTI Forums,
presented throughout the year, supply participants with cutting-edge, yet
practical information on a variety of topics that help companies slash costs,
learn more about advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, and stay
ahead of the competition. Upcoming programs include education on New Product
Development, Information Technology Security Solutions, Quality Standards
(ISO, Six Sigma), The Past and Future of CRM, Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) and Supply Chain Management, to name a few.
In another move toward collaboration, Pletcher will serve as chair of the
2004 Minnesota High Technology Foundation Board of Directors. The Minnesota
High Technology Foundation promotes excellence in science, math and technology
education. The foundation provides support to Minnesota Computers for Schools
and Wonders of Technology at the Minnesota State Fair.
MHTA and MTI are continuing a collaboration that began with the Tekne
Awards four years ago. The Tekne Awards, held each fall, honor technology
innovators who have made lasting contributions to enhancing Minnesota's
quality of life and economic competitiveness. More than 1,000 people attended
the Awards Ceremony last October.
"I'm tremendously excited that MHTA and MTI will be working in
collaboration to benefit technology companies," said Rubin. "Minnesota is a
national leader in multiple technology sectors. The collaborative steps
announced today will provide additional benefits for MHTA members and MTI
clients while strengthening Minnesota's tech-based economy."
MHTA works to accelerate the growth, success and sustainability of
Minnesota's technology-based economy through public policy advocacy, member
collaboration and education, and community outreach. MHTA is the only
membership organization that represents Minnesota's entire technology-based
economy. MHTA members include organizations of every size - involved in
virtually every aspect of technology in Minnesota. More information can be

MTI is a leading provider of technology information and technical
