Shawn D. Nelson Chosen by Richard Branson to Run Virgin Worldwide
SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Looks like 28-year-old Shawn's
adventure as a contestant on FOX's reality show The Rebel Billionaire:
Branson's Quest for the Best has come to end. And like most of Shawn's
adventures, this one has a very happy ending.
Nearly a thousand fans gathered at The Grand Hall at the Gateway to watch
as LoveSac's rebel CEO faced Richard Branson's final four challenges. When
Branson announced Shawn as the winner, you could've heard the crowd three
states away. But Branson's announcement of the winner wasn't the final test.
As the winner Shawn received a check for $1 million. True to Rebel
Billionaire style the money came with a small twist. Shawn could risk the
money on a single coin toss. If he called the toss correctly he would "open
the door to a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," but if he lost it he'd lose
everything. Fifty-fifty odds weren't something LoveSac's CEO was willing to
bet on, so he kept the money. It turns out the coin toss was the final test
and Shawn passed with flying colors. The $1 million now came with a
three-month position as the President of Virgin Worldwide. After three months
Shawn will either return to LoveSac and build it into a global brand or serve
as president of one of Virgin's many ventures.
LoveSac and its guests celebrated the evening in style. The final viewing
party came complete with a red carpet entrance, Sacced-out VIP lounge, live
band, guest DJ Teck $, great food, gift bags, and fantastic giveaways.
Typical of previous viewing parties, LoveSac asked guests to donate a Sac of
food. Tonight's event managed to bring the total to over 40,000 pounds of
food for the Utah Food Bank.
So what does Shawn's success on The Rebel Billionaire mean for LoveSac?
Well, there's a good chance the company will lose its rebel CEO and have to
find someone to fill his Oversized Sacs. How we're going to do that is
LoveSac's million-dollar question.
