Appointment Will Further Strengthen the Burger King(R) Executive
Leadership Team
MIAMI, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Burger King Corporation today announced the
appointment of Edna Boone Johnson as senior vice president, global
communications, effective immediately. In this capacity, Johnson will be
responsible for all corporate communication functions both domestically and
internationally, including media relations, internal communications and
community relations. Johnson will join the Executive Leadership Team and will
report directly to Greg Brenneman, the chief executive officer of Burger King
Corporation.

Before joining Burger King Corporation, Johnson was vice president of
public relations for The CNN News Group. As such, she was responsible for the
strategy, direction and oversight of publicity efforts for the CNN networks in
the United States, including CNN/U.S., Headline News and CNN.com. She was also
responsible for internal communications for the domestic networks. She served
on The News Group's marketing steering committee, as well on the executive
leadership team for CNN News Services, which includes The News Group's
affiliate relationships worldwide, as well as CNN.com, CNN Radio and Turner
Learning. Additionally, Johnson led CNN's Public Information Department,
which chronicles and measures all viewer and user reaction to the CNN
networks.
Prior to this, Johnson was vice president of public relations for CNN
Interactive, where she was responsible for developing and maintaining CNN.com
and all Web-related public relations activities worldwide.
Before joining The CNN News Group, Johnson was head of Public Relations
and Corporate Culture for Knology Inc., a leading provider of voice, video and
data services in the Southeast. In this role, she was responsible for
establishing the company's public relations department, which worked with both
local and national media, and directing all internal communications, investor
relations and crisis communications initiatives throughout the company.
For more than a decade, Johnson was a tenured professor of journalism at
Auburn University and the principal in Word's Worth Public Relations
Consulting. Her consulting clients included the Coca-Cola Company, IBM,
Nickelodeon Networks and Turner Broadcasting, among many other notable
companies.
Johnson began her career as a newspaper writer and is a four-time winner
of first-place Associated Press writing awards. She graduated with highest
honors from Auburn University with bachelor's degree in public relations and
holds a master's degree from the University of Alabama.
