Food 4 Less Announces Management Changes

    LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Food 4 Less, California's leading
price-impact supermarket chain, today announced three organizational changes
in its Store Operations and Marketing departments.
    Bryan Kaltenbach, a resident of Chino Hills, has been promoted to Vice
President of Store Operations.  In this position, Kaltenbach is responsible
for the day-to-day operations of the company's 127 stores in California and
Nevada.  He reports directly to Dave Hirz, President of Food 4 Less.  He
succeeds Tim Mulhall, who has been appointed Group Vice President of
Perishables in the company's Marketing Department.
    Kaltenbach, 47, previously served as District Manager overseeing 19 Food
4 Less stores in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.  He had held that
position since 2001.  Kaltenbach began his supermarket career in 1973 as a
Courtesy Clerk with Alpha Beta Markets.  He was later promoted to store
management.  Kaltenbach also has held a series of management positions in Food
4 Less' corporate offices, including Director of Store Operations
Administration, and Director of Sales and Marketing.
    He is married with 3 children.
    Tim Mulhall has been named Group Vice President of Perishables.  In his
new position, Mulhall has overall responsibility for the company's produce,
meat, deli and service deli/bakery departments.  He reports to Bob McKee,
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
    Mulhall, 48, began his grocery career in 1973 as a Courtesy Clerk with
Alpha Beta Markets.  He was promoted to his most recent position as Group Vice
President of Store Operations in 1999.  Prior to that, he served as Vice
President of Produce Operations.
    Mulhall resides in Mission Viejo with his wife and three children.
    Daryl Zgodzay has been appointed to the position of Vice President of
Sales and Marketing for Northern California and Las Vegas.  In this capacity,
he is responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for the company's
Foods Co stores in Central and Northern California and Food 4 Less stores in
the Las Vegas, NV area.  He also reports to Bob McKee.
    Most recently, Zgodzay, 39, served as Vice President of Perishables.  He
held that position since 1999.  Zgodzay began his career in 1979 with
Thriftymart.  He joined Food 4 Less in 1991 as Director of Meat Operations.
He was promoted to Vice President of Meat Operations in 1998.
    Zgodzay resides in Northridge with his wife and two children.
