Mercury General Corporation to Report Fourth Quarter Results on February 9, 2004

    LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury General Corporation
(NYSE: MCY), a major California automobile insurer with operations in several
states reported that on Monday, February 9, 2004, the Company will release
results for its fourth quarter and twelve month period ended December 31,
2003.  The Company also said that Chief Executive Officer, George Joseph, and
President, Gabriel Tirador, will host an investor conference call that same
day at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time (1:00 P.M. Eastern Time) to review the
Company's results of operations for the fourth quarter and twelve month period
ended December 31, 2003.
