RSA Keon(TM) PKI Products Help Drive Mainstream Adoption of Totally Secure
E-Business Applications
SAN JOSE, Calif., RSA CONFERENCE 2000, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- BT
announced today that it has become the first company to resell the RSA
Keon(TM) family of PKI (public key infrastructure) products from RSA Security
(Nasdaq: RSAS) globally.
The RSA Keon family of interoperable PKI products is designed to manage
digital certificates and provide an environment for authenticated, private and
legally binding electronic communications and transactions via the Internet
and corporate intranets. RSA Keon effectively provides users with digital
credentials to securely conduct business in today's new online economy.
The BT Syncordia Solutions arm of BT will provide RSA Keon as part of
managed e-commerce solutions aimed initially at the burgeoning business to
business market. Currently 80 percent of all online transactions take place
between businesses, and BT believes that as the market for e-business
solutions continues to grow, there will be high demand for integrated security
services that allow users to undertake high value transactions safely.
Mark Phillips, solutions development manager with BT Syncordia Solutions
said: "Confidence with regard to data security and integrity have been the
major barriers to widespread adoption of e-business in Europe. Customers who
wish to provide e-business services don't want to have to stitch together
their own security solutions combining remote authentication, encryption,
digital certification and passwords. They want a supplier that can take the
mystery out of security and provide e-commerce solutions, complete with
integrated security. Through integrating RSA Keon technology and using BT
Trustwise as the certificate issuing authority BT Syncordia Solutions is able
to provide complete, managed e-commerce solutions from a single supplier."
The BT and RSA Security reseller partnership represents a significant
milestone for PKI uptake. The products enable organizations to fully embrace
the opportunities of e-business, with total confidence.
Mark Reeves, vice president for Europe, Middle East & Africa with RSA
Security said: "This is a significant endorsement for both RSA Security and
PKI. BT is renowned for selecting best of breed technology. This partnership
will enable BT to meet their customers' demands for secure e-business."
Today's announcement builds on the existing relationship between BT and
RSA Security. BT has been reselling RSA SecurID user authentication products
for two years. BT also played a key role in beta-testing RSA Keon prior to
its launch in September 1999. BT will now be able to deliver and manage PKI
infrastructures for corporations both in the UK and globally through the
Concert network.
