Digital Signature Trust Builds Up Its Executive Staff With Experienced High-Tech and Management Leaders

Yuriy Dzambasow Joins DST as Chief Technology Officer and
Carl Sandberg Takes Over as Chief Operating Officer

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Signature Trust Co.
(DST), an affiliate of Zions Bancorporation (Nasdaq: ZION) and the first
licensed Certification Authority in the United States, today announced that it
has hired Yuriy Dzambasow as Chief Technology Officer and Carl Sandberg as
Chief Operating Officer. Dzambasow was previously a senior scientist with
SPYRUS, where he developed a roadmap for SPYRUS' public key infrastructure
(PKI) products and services and deployed operational PKIs for utility,
healthcare and law enforcement customers. Sandberg has 24 years of experience
in the Internet, e-commerce, communications, computer and consulting
industries. Most recently, he worked as an independent management consultant
serving start-up Internet, technology and professional services companies.
According to Scott Lowry, president and chief executive officer of DST,
the addition of these two key players will be a driving force in DST's
objective to serve its customers with best-of-breed network security and
authentication solutions.
"Yuriy's extensive experience in information security, PKI design
leadership and successful deployment will complement DST's policy of
technology independence. Understanding technology options through and through
is a key to helping clients understand their own needs so they can choose the
technology and services that will best meet their business objectives," said
Lowry. "And, with Carl leading DST's day to day operations, his broad,
cross-functional experience and management expertise will enable him to set
and maintain the direction for the company and provide a valuable mentoring
resource."
Dzambasow's role with DST includes developing the technology roadmap for
DST's security solutions for enterprise, business-to-business and
business-to-consumer markets, and to ensure that DST's solutions and services
are based on best-of-breed commercial technology and are standards compliant.
Sandberg is responsible for managing the company on a day to day basis,
overseeing implementation from the executive level, ensuring company-wide
alignment on initiatives, and finally, drawing on his international problem
solving experience in coaching and mentoring DST employees.
"I am excited to work for a company that offers leading technology
solutions bundled with trust services -- and as a bank subsidiary, DST is
uniquely positioned to infuse trust into a PKI like no other competitor," said
Dzambasow. "My goal is to help DST become the premier name in the area of
managed PKI services."
Mr. Dzambasow has ten years of experience in information security. His
career includes positions at the National Security Agency and BBN where he was
instrumental in the development of the Certification Authority Workstation
currently deployed and operational for the Department of Defense. He has
prepared numerous briefs and papers on PKI technology, been asked to comment
on PKI architectures and policies by customers in both government and
industry, and has served on a number of PKI-related working groups. He holds
a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and studied cryptography,
information security and system development at the NSA Cryptologic School.
"I welcome the exciting pace and opportunities of a senior operations
position with a start-up company like DST," said Sandberg. "I believe that
the intersection of business and technology that we're experiencing today
affords a unique opportunity to do some very exciting things, and as DST's
COO, I have the opportunity to lead a team that is dedicated to making a
difference in the corporate lives of our customers."
Mr. Sandberg has served on the management committee of a Fortune 500
computer and electronics company and on the boards of domestic and
international technology companies; and as general manager of an international
computer business, director of strategic marketing for an international
communications company, and principal in an international consulting firm. He
served as a Major and paratrooper in U.S. Army Infantry, Special Forces and
Special Operations units. He holds six academic degrees, including a master's
in economics from Oxford University and a master's in business administration
with emphasis in general management, information systems management and
finance from the Harvard Business School.
