"Consumers are quickly adopting Web-based products such as free voicemail
and fax," said Craig Donato, senior vice-president of Excite@Home's
Communication and Client Products. "We developed Excite Inbox as a direct
response to consumer behavior and demand. Excite Inbox is the only email
provider on the Web that lets users manage all of their communication
correspondence whether e-mail, voicemail or fax from their private email
account for free. We're proud to be leading the industry with this product
offering."
Excite Inbox was rated the third largest Web-based email service with a
high average 35 minutes spent by each user (Source: NetRatings/Nielsen,
Dec. 1999).
All Messages, All in One Place
Excite@Home is the only major Internet portal offering free voicemail, fax
and e-mail all in one place. Excite Voicemail, which is powered by General
Magic, was first introduced in July 1999 and provides users with a toll-free
phone number and personal extension where they can receive voice and fax
messages. Nearly 1 million Excite users have already activated the service.
Excite Inbox tightly integrates an improved email experience with voicemail
and fax capability into a single, Internet accessible account. With Excite
Inbox, it's easier than ever to maintain instant contact with customers,
colleagues and friends.
The Most Customizable
Personalization is one of the key features built into Excite Inbox.
Features such as a color selector, new message symbols and message display
font size and type gives consumers a personalized e-mail experience. A user
can choose from 15 different color schemes ranging from "Hawaiian Punch," and
"Techno," to "Clear Skies" and "CEO" for their email interface. In addition,
one can select a rose, horseshoe, smiley face, heart or one of the other
offered icons for their unread mail symbol. Excite Inbox gives consumers more
control over the physical look and feel of their email service than other
providers on the Internet.
More Useful Tools to Manage Personal Information
Excite Inbox provides the tools mobile users need to keep in touch. With
industry-leading TrueSync technology from Starfish Software, users can easily
synchronize their email address book with major personal information
management software packages such as Microsoft Outlook and Palm Desktop. In
addition to addresses, new integration points between Excite Inbox and
Excite Planner (http://planner.excite.com) make adding calendar appointments,
to-do list items, and notes while reading email or listening to voicemail
easier than ever.
Excite Inbox also now provides wireless access to email messages via
3Com's Palm VII, Palm VII users can send and receive email from anywhere using
Excite Inbox. The free application, called My Excite for Palm VII, is
available at http://www.palm.net, http://www.palmcentral.com, and other Palm
download sites.

widely-used services such as Yellow Pages, Maps/Directions, Chat, Photo Center
and Blue Mountain electronic cards in order to give users all the tools they
need in one place to communicate and manage their lives effectively.
