TEANECK, N.J., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SynData Technologies Inc., the

appointment of Stan Yakatan as executive vice president.  Yakatan will have
overall responsibility for business development, marketing, sales and
corporate finance.
    An experienced entrepreneur, Yakatan is a founder and/or co-founder of
nine companies and has served as chairman, CEO, or president of seven of those
companies.  He has raised in excess of $1 billion through public and private
financing and the sale of companies and serves on a number of corporate
boards.
    Yakatan has been chairman, president and CEO of Quantum Biotechnologies,
an international supplier of biotechnology tools since 1997.  Under his
leadership, Quantum Biotechnologies has grown to over $20 million in revenue.
Quantum and Yakatan were awarded the Armand Frapier award for this achievement
(one of the provinces of Quebec's most prestigious business awards). From 1993
through 1997, he was chairman & CEO of Unisyn Technologies, a development
stage, life sciences instrumentation company which he founded. Prior to that,
Yakatan held numerous sales and marketing executive management positions with
companies such as New England Nuclear (a division of Dupont Biotechnology),
ICN and New Brunswick Scientific. At New Brunswick Scientific, he was also
president of BioSearch, one of the first companies utilizing software for the
development and discovery of DNA-based products.
    Mr. Yakatan has been an advisor to several leading venture capital groups
including TVM, MSP, Ventana and Biocapitol. He has been a finalist of Inc.
Magazine's "Entrepreneur of the Year" on two occasions. Yakatan holds an MBA
from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
