RSA BSAFE(R) SSL-C and RSA BSAFE Crypto-C Products Designed to Accelerate
Transactions in E-Commerce Environment
SAN JOSE, Calif., RSA CONFERENCE 2000, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA
Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security, today
announced that it is optimizing the next versions of its popular RSA BSAFE(R)
SSL-C and RSA BSAFE Crypto-C security software components for the Intel(R)
Itanium(TM) processor. RSA BSAFE SSL-C and RSA Crypto-C products are the first
announced security development kits (SDKs) with cryptographic software
specifically designed to achieve greater performance using the Intel Itanium
processor, intended to boost the speed of e-commerce transactions on heavily
loaded servers. RSA Security is working closely with Intel Corporation
(Nasdaq: INTC) to optimize the RSA BSAFE SSL-C and RSA Crypto-C security
components to ensure their superior performance and availability to software
developers before the Intel Itanium processor release. The new RSA BSAFE
products are scheduled for availability in the second quarter of 2000.
Intel's IA-64 architecture incorporates unique features to provide
breakthrough performance on RSA algorithms in SSL authentication. These
features include massive resources for security performance: many functional
units, large number of registers, and a fully pipelined integer multiply-add.
"RSA Security and Intel have worked closely together to design
technologies that help software developers create secure applications on this
exciting new platform," said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing
for RSA Security. "The Intel Itanium processor promises a quantum leap in
performance over existing architectures, and our new RSA BSAFE components will
help even more through specific encryption and digital signature
optimizations."
"Intel congratulates RSA Security's accomplishment in fine tuning RSA
BSAFE's algorithms using software pipelining and other IA-64 capabilities,"
said Ron Curry, director of marketing for Intel's IA-64 Processor Division.
"The combination of Intel's Itanium(TM) processor with RSA Security's software
will address the rapidly evolving e-business needs for secure, responsive, and
customized environments."
RSA BSAFE Crypto-C software is one of the world's best-selling
cryptography engines and provides software developers with multiple algorithms
and modules for adding encryption and authentication features to applications.
RSA BSAFE software includes modules for popular security encryption
techniques, such as RSA(TM), DES, RC2(R), RC4(R), RC5(TM), and Elliptic Curve
Cryptography (ECC), and also supports digital signatures and certificates.
RSA BSAFE Crypto-C software is designed to help developers build a wide range
of secure applications -- including digitally signed forms; private Internet
communications; signed, tamperproof applications; secure wireless
communications and virtual private networks. RSA BSAFE Crypto-C's component
architecture is designed to make it simple to integrate and able to adapt to
future security standards and technologies.
RSA BSAFE SSL-C software is designed to give software developers
everything they need to implement the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2 and v3)
protocol, as well as the Transport Layer Security (TLS v1.0) protocol, for
banking, financial services, Web publishing, government and other consumer and
electronic commerce applications. RSA BSAFE SSL-C software includes extensive
production quality sample code, API libraries, certificate authority
components, a wide range of socket libraries, full user and API documentation
plus other important features that help developers create secure SSL-enabled
applications quickly and more cost-effectively.
