RSA Security Works with Microsoft on e-Security

Addresses Privacy, Integrity and Identity Requirements for Conducting Business
                               on Windows 2000

SAN JOSE, Calif., RSA CONFERENCE 2000, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA
Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security, today
announced it continues to work with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) to provide
innovative security features for Microsoft Windows 2000. Microsoft is using
this week's RSA Conference 2000, the industry's premier e-security forum, to
showcase the privacy and security features of the new Windows 2000 operating
system.
RSA Security and Microsoft have collaborated on e-security projects since
1996 when Microsoft licensed RSA BSAFE technology to build strong encryption
into their products. Today, RSA BSAFE technology is embedded in nearly every
copy of Windows NT, Microsoft Internet Explorer, the IIS Web Server and the
forthcoming Windows 2000. In addition, RSA Security was one of the first
participants in Microsoft's Security Partner program launched in 1998.
Since then, RSA Security has worked with Microsoft to extend RSA
Security's e-security technologies and solutions in the Windows 2000 operating
system. In 1999, the companies previewed the RSA SecurID authentication
solution for Windows 2000 as part of Microsoft's beta program. This solution
is being demonstrated at this week's RSA Conference 2000. Additional details
will be available at the Windows 2000 launch event in February 2000.
"We're pleased to strengthen our long-standing relationship with RSA
Security and to work together to deliver integrated e-security solutions for
our customers," said Dave Thompson, development director for Windows 2000
security at Microsoft Corp. "Since security features are such a critical
component in Windows 2000, RSA Security is an ideal choice for us."
"We're excited to be working closely with Microsoft to design security
solutions for Windows 2000," said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of
marketing for RSA Security. "Our efforts are intended to make it easy for
businesses to communicate and share information among employees, trusted
vendors, partners, and customers on Windows 2000 environments without fear of
compromising confidential data. We are pleased that Microsoft chose to
highlight the security features of Windows 2000 at this year's RSA Conference
2000."
