SEATTLE, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Immunex Corporation (Nasdaq: IMNX)
announced today that Dr. Daniel Burge has been promoted to vice president of
clinical development. In this role, Dr. Burge will oversee all phases of
clinical development for ENBREL(R) (etanercept), NUVANCE(TM) and other product
development projects, aside from oncology indications.

adding Dr. Burge's leadership to the development team was a logical next
step," said Leslie Garrison, M.D., M.P.H., Immunex senior vice president of

A licensed rheumatologist, Dr. Burge joined Immunex in 1997 as medical
director for ENBREL, responsible for designing, implementing and analyzing
several key clinical trials. He played a key role in both U.S. and European
ENBREL approvals.
Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Burge managed
his own clinical practice in Wilmington, Delaware, where he was actively
involved in clinical research in the areas of osteoporosis, rheumatoid
arthritis, and pain management. He served as director of the
Boards of Limestone Medical College and the Delaware Chapter of the
Arthritis Foundation. He received his medical degree from
Thomas Jefferson University, and trained in internal medicine at the
Medical Center of Delaware, and rheumatology at Hahnemann University.
