SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Providian Financial
Corporation (NYSE: PVN) today announced that Susan Gleason, a highly
experienced financial services operations expert, has joined the company as
Vice Chairman, Operations and Systems. Gleason will report to Providian's
President and CEO Joseph Saunders.
Gleason joins Providian from Fleet Credit Card Services where, for the
past four years, she managed operational functions, including all internal and
external technology servicing, quality measurement, customer satisfaction
performance and fraud. For 13 years prior to that, she worked at
Household Credit Services, where she developed the infrastructure to support
that company's customer base. Gleason also brings great experience from
executive positions she held while at Bank of America, Chemical Bank and
Continental Bank.
"Susan has a tremendous track record in building strong operations and
technology structures in the credit card industry. She will be a key asset
for Providian as we work to enhance what is already one of the industry's
strongest teams," said Saunders.
Gleason, who will be based out of the Company's corporate headquarters in
San Francisco, officially started her position on Thursday, January 17, 2002.
