Day Two Examines the Evolution of the Mobile Gaming Phenomenon
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- CMP's Game Group today announced
Robert Tercek, co-founder of PeopleJam and a leading figure in the mobile
games industry, will deliver a keynote address at GDC Mobile on the second
day of the conference. Tercek's address titled, "The First Decade of Mobile
Games," will trace the major milestones in the evolution of this nascent
medium, and provide examples of the games that signify the turning points,
breakthroughs, and pitfalls of the last decade. He will also share an
analysis of the trends that will herald a major shift in the future of the
mobile games entertainment sector. GDC Mobile is taking place March 5 - 6
at the Moscone Convention Center North in San Francisco.
"We are honored to have Robert Tercek, a well-respected industry expert
and mobile games visionary, keynote our sixth annual conference," said
Jamil Moledina, executive director, Game Developers Conference. "The mobile
games sector has vast business opportunities for developers and publishers,
and Tercek is best positioned to dissect learnings of the past to drive the
market forward."
Robert Tercek is the founding chairman of GDC Mobile since its
inception in 2002. He has been a senior executive in the games industry
since 1993 and has served as an advisor to the Game Developers Conference
since 1998. He played an instrumental role in the worldwide growth of two
groundbreaking mobile companies, PacketVideo Corporation and Mforma Group,
before co-founding PeopleJam in 2006. Tercek supervised the creation of
content services on several platforms, including the first Java-based
multiplayer games on the web and the world's first wireless video
deployments. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Southern
California's School of Cinema & Television.
In addition to more than 50 sessions, attendees have the opportunity to
participate in the Mobile Game Innovation Hunt, a much-anticipated
highlight of the conference. The competition gives developers and
publishers the opportunity to pitch their most innovative game to a panel
of expert judges and the audience for a chance to win unique prizes.
Submissions are now being accepted through Feb. 2. This hour-long session
will immediately be followed by the GDC Mobile Networking Reception on
Monday, March 5, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
