SUNRISE, Fla., Jan. 17, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Susan Knapp Pinnas, a
Florida native and five-year veteran of CIGNA HealthCare, was named
president and general manager of CIGNA HealthCare's South Florida/Caribbean
market. The appointment was announced today by Andrew Crooks, regional vice
president for CIGNA HealthCare's Southeast operations.
"After several years overseeing contracting and provider services, both
nationally and locally, Pinnas has been successful in significantly
expanding CIGNA's network access and improving provider satisfaction," said
Crooks. "And, with more than 20 years of service in the health care
industry, Susan's varied background in hospital administration and health
plan operations, strategic planning and new business development, makes her
ideally suited to take on this new challenge."
In her new position, Pinnas will be responsible for sales and service
operations in South Florida and the Caribbean, including fostering and
deepening relationships with employers, providers, brokers and consultants.
CIGNA HealthCare currently serves approximately 400,000 medical members in
the region, bringing integrated medical, behavioral, pharmacy, dental and
vision benefits to local employers.
Pinnas joined CIGNA HealthCare in 2002 as network operations officer
for Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Subsequently, in
2004, she joined CIGNA's National Contracting and Provider Services team as
the Provider Services lead to help formulate and drive the provider service
strategy. She then resumed market responsibilities as the network
management lead for Florida/Caribbean and Georgia/Alabama in 2005.
Prior to joining CIGNA, Pinnas developed extensive experience in the
Florida health care market by serving in executive leadership roles for a
variety of provider and managed care organizations including Baptist
Hospital, Prudential HealthCare and Sheridan Healthcorp.
Pinnas resides in Coral Gables and is active in the community and with
legislative organizations. She completed her undergraduate studies at the
University of Florida and graduate studies at the University of North
Florida.
