RSA Security Unveils e-Security Solutions for Novell Directory Services

RSA SecurID Two-Factor Authentication Designed to Protect Leading
                        Enterprise Directory Services

    SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA CONFERENCE 2000 --
RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS) and Novell, Inc. today continued to
strengthen their relationship by introducing RSA SecurID(R) two-factor
authentication solutions for Novell Directory Services(R) (NDS(R)). Today,
organizations are leveraging Novell's NDS eDirectory(TM) as a centralized
"gold mine" of information to facilitate e-business. The new RSA ACE/Agent(TM)
for NMAS(TM) (Novell Modular Authentication Service(TM)) is designed to add
enterprise-level, two-factor authentication to NDS to positively identify
users accessing information in Novell environments.
The RSA ACE/Agent for NMAS, an important addition to the growing family of
RSA ACE/Agent software, is designed to help facilitate e-business for
organizations using NDS eDirectory and NetWare(R) 5. With this new agent
software, RSA SecurID is intended to protect customer information at the
source while allowing controlled access to critical enterprise applications by
employees, partners and customers. The RSA ACE/Agent supports NMAS's graded
authentication, making it possible to manage access to network resources based
on authentication technique, information sensitivity and user permission
grades. In addition, RSA ACE/Agent for NMAS is designed to offer NDS users
simple, integrated log-on.
"Today's announcement reflects the teaming of two industry leaders to
address the growing e-security needs of their mutual customers and to support
e-business initiatives that rely on NDS as a pivotal source of information,"
said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing for RSA Security.
"Together, we can help our customers expand their e-security with our
industry-leading two-factor authentication solution that is designed to
protect their directory-based assets as they open their enterprise systems to
mobile employees, contractors, partners and their own customers."
"RSA is an acknowledged leader in two-factor authentication, and we are
pleased to be able to bring this advanced protection to NDS customers," said
Patrick Harr, director of product management, Novell. "Through NMAS and graded
authentication, Novell is enhancing its security architecture to enable its
customers to use advanced authentication technologies like RSA SecurID to
positively identify users to their enterprise directory service."
RSA ACE/Agent for NMAS is available now at no additional charge as a value
added component of the RSA SecurID solution. The Agent is available through
both RSA Security and Novell and is Novell "NMAS Enabled" and "Yes! Tested and
Approved." RSA Security also provides two-factor authentication solutions for
Novell BorderManager(R) and NetWare.

    RSA SecurID Authentication Family
RSA SecurID solutions provide centrally managed, two-factor authentication
for enterprise networks, operating systems, e-commerce Web sites and other
IT infrastructures. These solutions are designed to ensure that only
authorized users access data, applications and communications. Supporting a
range of authentication devices, including hardware tokens, key fobs, smart
cards software tokens and Palm computing devices, RSA SecurID solutions are
intended to create a virtually impenetrable barrier against unauthorized
access, protecting network and data resources from potentially devastating
accidental or malicious intrusion. RSA SecurID installations are managed
through RSA ACE/Server(R) authentication management software, providing the
ability to scale deployment in the hundreds of thousands of users.
