ATLANTA, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Preferred Networks, Inc. (PNI)
(OTC Bulletin Board: PFNT), a leading outsourcing services provider to the
wireless industry, today reported that it has shipped units of its
iTerminal(TM) product that leverages the Internet as the transport backbone
for wireless messaging traffic. The iTerminal(TM) is the first in a suite of
products that incorporates certain features of PNI's patented Platform1(TM)
high-speed switch modules, which was introduced at the PCS Showcase in New
Orleans in September 1999.
PNI's iTerminal(TM) product allows operators to provide paging, voice
messaging and email notification from a standard PC-based chassis with HTML
(web browser) screens. The iTerminal(TM) can be located in most standard
business offices and the actual messaging traffic is passed over the Internet
using proprietary software that embeds the paging protocol (TNPP) data into
Internet protocol packets.
Mark Dunaway, CEO of PNI, said, "We are very excited about the reception
the iTerminal(TM) product is receiving in the marketplace. The iTerminal(TM)
is a low-cost, feature-rich operating system that allows operators to offer
switched-based services with significantly reduced entry costs. The iTerminal
is our first in a family of products that we believe are well positioned to
facilitate a convergence of mobile wireless data services with the Internet."
PNI is initially marketing the iTerminal(TM) to its existing customer base
and has also begun to accept orders from companies that did not previously
purchase services from PNI.
Preferred Networks, Inc., headquartered in metropolitan Atlanta, provides
outsourcing solutions to the wireless industry, which allow companies to offer
branded wireless services directly to subscribers, while relying on PNI to
provide high-quality network services and technology gateway products. PNI
offers its services through its PNI Access Services Division(SM). PNI's
address on the World Wide Web is: http://www.pni.net .
