InfoSpace.com's wireless commerce solution is unique because it provides
fully integrated secure wireless Internet services such as promotions and
one-click buying, creating end-to-end trust between end users and sources of
secure information on the Internet, such as banks and financial institutions.
Working together with VeriSign and Gemplus, InfoSpace.com plans to deliver
first-in-class wireless security by providing end-to-end encryption and
digital signatures in the Short Message/SIM Application Toolkit environment.
VeriSign will make its renowned Certificate Authority (CA) capability
available with InfoSpace.com's wireless commerce services. VeriSign's
Enterprise Certificate Services will be integrated with InfoSpace.com's
Secure(TM) architecture providing end users and Internet content sources with
secure transactions over wireless networks.
Gemplus subscriber identification module (SIM) technology will be
integrated with InfoSpace.com's secure service architecture, providing client
authentication for secure mobile commerce.
InfoSpace.com's wireless Internet services will offer the best security
features available in current wireless and Internet technology. The security
achieved with this solution includes encryption, and -- for the first time in
wireless applications -- server side authentication. With this development,
trust is established between individuals and companies by ensuring that in any
mobile transaction their mutual identities have been securely established.
In addition, VeriSign's wireless digital certificate technology is used in
conjunction with Gemplus SIM cards, simplifying implementation of the trust
infrastructure and making it easy for users to experience the level of trust
needed to engage in wireless commerce. InfoSpace.com has applied its trusted
wireless commerce solution to the financial sector by bringing to North
America the first mobile banking application using the SIM Application
Toolkit.
"InfoSpace.com is the first company to provide a global end-to-end
wireless security architecture for services," said Naveen Jain, chairman and
CEO, InfoSpace.com. "The security offered by our wireless Internet services
will enable mobile users to access any Internet application or engage in any

"Providing mobile customers with trusted commerce is essential for the
advancement of wireless transactions in e-banking, e-healthcare and other
applications," said Anil Pereira, vice president of Internet services group at
VeriSign. "VeriSign is delighted that InfoSpace.com is ensuring the wireless
Internet will deliver the same level of trust and security as the wired
Internet."
"By adding public key infrastructure (PKI) to the GemXplore SIM Card
features, Gemplus is providing a large community of wireless developers using
