Introducing CertifiedTime, a Premier E-Business Company Providing Certifiable Time-Setting Services Based on the U.S. Time Authority

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- CertifiedTime(TM), Inc., the
exclusive online provider of audited and secure time-setting services,
announced today the launch of the company and its CertifiedTime
DirectConnect(TM) service. CertifiedTime is the first commercial timing
service that serves as a trusted, third party agent to deliver legally binding
time-setting services that meet the rigorous requirements of e-business and
auditors.
DirectConnect establishes a secure connection between client companies and
federally traceable timeservers. Time-setting events are logged locally and
the records are archived at its Network Operations Center in California. The
DirectConnect service mitigates the risk associated with electronic commerce
by allowing CertifiedTime to serve as an evidentiary witness to the time of
setting events for customers.
"Until now accurate time coordination was possible, but could not be
trusted," said Harry B. DeMaio, President of Deloitte & Touche Security
Services LLC. "Through offerings such as those presented by CertifiedTime,
Inc., it will be possible to use certifiable time to provide important,
verifiable time functions such as synchronization of applications and
processors, event sequencing and initialization, dispute resolution and audit
trials."
Time-based synchronization is a leading security and audit problem in
Internet transactions. CertifiedTime allows customers in sectors including
financial services, insurance, securities trading, health care and government
to utilize a traceable and accurate time service emanating from the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the legal basis for
time in the United States.
"Obtaining verifiable time for transactions is essential for the future
success of e-business," said Mark Williams, president and CEO of
CertifiedTime. "CertifiedTime is offering time setting with an unprecedented
audit trail for companies to synchronize with official U.S. time clocks.
Companies for the first time have a traceable time record for transaction
disputes based on time."

    DirectConnect Service
DirectConnect connects a customer's transaction server or desktop computer
to a NIST traceable timeserver by physically terminating a private leased line
to a "private router" within their secured operations envelope. DirectConnect
forms a permanent virtual extension of the federal timing infrastructure into
the customer's computing envelope. This single hop topology provides a high
bandwidth, secure connection to a regional Certified Timing Center(TM) for
high-volume, security-conscious customers.
"DirectConnect is a cost-effective option for customers that wish to
synchronize a large number of computers frequently," said Todd Glassey, CTO of
CertifiedTime. "Our service addresses any availability, latency and security
concerns common with high-volume customers. We provide precise time by
eliminating long-haul network overhead through direct connections."

    Pricing and availability
CertifiedTime DirectConnect service pricing plans begin at $3,000 per
month for a 25 seat license. Licenses are required for devices that originate
NTP requests. Redundant channel options are also available for leased line
fault tolerance. This service is available for almost all platforms including
Windows, UNIX, Linux and mainframes.

    CertifiedTime, Inc.

legal time base. CertifiedTime's service offers companies for the first time
audit records to validate that a computer's clock was set to the correct time
at defined intervals. The company operates timing centers across North America
