Easily Manageable WebShield 300 Line Prevents Viruses With McAfee Products,
Secures Information with Gauntlet VPN, and Deters Hackers With Gauntlet
                                   Firewall

RSA DATA SECURITY CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ --
Network Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETA) today announced the immediate
availability of the WebShield 300 E-ppliance, the first security device to
combine anti-virus, firewall and VPN software in an easy-to-use plug-and-play
e-business appliance. The remotely manageable security device helps companies
of all sizes aggressively pursue Internet opportunities by eliminating the
need for specialized IT personnel or time-intensive security deployments
-- enabling companies to make sure their online business channels are secure
from day one. In a single appliance that arrives ready to secure a full-scale
network, the WebShield 300 E-ppliance packs some of the leading brands in
Internet security, including Gauntlet firewall, McAfee virus scanning, and
Gauntlet VPN with PGP encryption, providing comprehensive e-business
protection.
"Companies are being forced by investor demands and market expectations to
act quickly on e-business strategies, but as analysts point out, you can't do
e-business without safeguarding your information and that of your customers
and partners," said Marvin Dickerson, senior product manager for the WebShield
E-ppliance products, Network Associates. "The WebShield 300 E-ppliance helps
companies immediately execute on their e-business objectives without bogging
them down with frustrating requirements. Our broad range of security
expertise, from anti-virus software to Sniffer hardware units, has positioned
us well to help customers achieve e-business security success."

Additional E-ppliance Models Offer More Customer Options
    The 320-MB memory, rack-mountable WebShield 300 E-ppliance enjoys the
reduced up-front purchase cost, ease of management, and drastically reduced
on-going service cost benefits of appliances. At the same time, through use
of proven brand name software like the Gauntlet Firewall VPN, the WebShield
300 E-ppliance provides enterprise-strength features required to secure
networks and enable trusted relationships. Additional WebShield E-ppliance
models expand capabilities for larger scale enterprises: the WebShield 310
E-ppliance offers integrated accelerated VPN performance, and the WebShield
320 E-ppliance ships with integrated failover/high availability capabilities.
The WebShield 100 E-ppliance provides single-function anti-virus capabilities.
All current WebShield E-ppliance units leverage the Sun Microsystems
Solaris platform, although the appliance design eliminates any platform
interoperability requirements -- e-ppliances can be dropped into virtually any
network environment.
"Network Associates' WebShield E-ppliance has absolutely simplified the
way we administer our security services by enabling remote manageability,"
said Mark McLaughlin, senior security engineer for SilverBack Technologies, a
leading network information service provider. "These integrated high
availability security features are an excellent, low-cost option for our
customers who require guaranteed protection and uptime."

    Pricing and Availability
WebShield E-ppliance products are available directly from Network
Associates, as well as from authorized resellers. Suggested retail pricing
for the WebShield E-ppliances ranges from $8,000 to $20,000, depending on node
count and model selected. Specialized E-ppliance support packages are also
available.
