Merrill Lynch's New Telecom Team Offers Broad-Based Global Expertise
NEW YORK, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) today
announced the appointment of Ken Hoexter as First Vice President and Senior
Analyst in U.S. Telecommunications research, covering the Competitive Local
Exchange Carriers (CLECs).
Mr. Hoexter is a highly ranked telecom analyst in the Institutional
Investor All-America Research Team survey for CLECs, a new category reflecting
the fast-paced growth of this industry segment. Before joining Merrill Lynch,
he worked for Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Hoexter has a B.S. in
Finance and Marketing from Lehigh University.

Merrill Lynch's Global Telecommunications research team is led by
co-global coordinators Mr. Quinton, who recently relocated to New York from
Asia, and London-based Chris McFadden. Mr. Quinton will be covering the U.S.
wireline majors together with Megan Kulick. Other members of the US telecom
team are Linda Mutschler, covering the wireless services industry, Tom Watts,
covering satellite and emerging-data companies and Craig Irvine, covering
smaller international carriers and helping create global products.
Mr. Quinton was ranked No. 1 by Institutional Investor for telecom
services in Asia Pacific in 1997 and 1998. Most recently he headed Merrill
Lynch's regional research department in Asia Pacific which, for the first
time, achieved an overall No. 1 ranking in 1999. Mr. McFadden is currently
ranked No. 1 by Institutional Investor for pan-European telecommunications
services.
In addition to Mr. Hoexter's No. 3 Institutional Investor ranking in U.S.
CLECs, Ms. Mutschler ranks No. 1 for U.S. wireless services and Tom Watts
ranks No. 2 for satellites.
Craig Irvine, recently relocated to New York from Hong Kong, is currently
ranked No. 1 by Institutional Investor for Asia Pacific telecom services.
