Astoria Federal Savings Goes Red for Women Beginning February 2, 2007

   Astoria Federal Announces Third Year of Major Support for the American
   Heart Association's Women's Heart Health Education Program, Go Red for
                                   Women

    LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Astoria Federal Savings
announces the launch of its third year of major support for the American
Heart Association's Go Red for Women health awareness education program. Go
Red for Women captures the energy, passion and intelligence of women to
work collectively to wipe out heart disease. Astoria Federal has pledged
$25,000 in the form of a matching challenge grant and a sponsorship of the
annual Go Red for Woman Long Island Luncheon.
    On February 2, 2007, every Astoria Federal employee and customer is
encouraged to wear red to kick off the month-long campaign. Those who wish
to donate to this important cause can stop in at any Astoria Federal
Savings branch in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester
throughout the month of February. "Astoria Federal is matching all
donations dollar-for- dollar up to a total of $25,000," said Brian Edwards,
Astoria Federal Savings Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing.
Edwards added, "As part of our Education First Initiative, Astoria Federal
is committed to supporting organizations and programs which help educate,
inform and support the many communities we serve. Heart disease is an issue
that affects all of our communities, since it is the #1 killer of women and
one in three women have some form of cardiovascular disease. We are
dedicated to helping eliminate this deadly disease by raising women's
awareness about their own health."
    For the third year in a row, Astoria Federal will also be one of the
sponsors of the American Heart Association's Long Island Region's Annual Go
Red for Women Luncheon on Thursday, February 15, 2007. Over 700 people
attend this event at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
