ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the most anticipated debuts
at this year's PGA Merchandise Show (January 29-February 2, 2004) will be the
unveiling of the new Equipment Testing Center (ETC), a 90,000-square-foot,
high-tech indoor driving range featuring 45 hitting bays and five target
greens for PGA professionals and industry retailers to personally test new
equipment and range products.
Designed and built by Peoria, IL-based Players Turf International LLC, the
massive ETC area will run the entire width of main Hall A; next to the Nike,
Top Flite, Callaway and Cleveland Golf booths, and the popular 19th Hole
interactive area. PGA officials worked closely with Players Turf
President/CEO Ray Sever and his design and installation experts to create the
first-of-its-kind Equipment Testing Center, which provides the show's 40,000
attendees with the opportunity to have a "realistic, hands-on experience" with
clubs, balls and other equipment.
"Our proprietary Players Turf(TM) technology, and years of experience at
designing and building synthetic turf golf practice facilities, enabled us to
make an aesthetically beautiful equipment testing area that provides
tournament quality play," Sever said. "Whether they're trying the newest
fairway wood, testing an iron for back spin, or pitch 'n running off the
moguls, Players Turf synthetic golf surfaces will provide PGA show attendees
with a true representation of how equipment will perform on natural grass."
Players Turf International also designed and installed the chipping and
putting areas for Nike and several other PGA Show exhibitors, and their booth
is located in Main Hall A next to Nike and the PGA Merchandising Show's ETC
testing area.
According to the company's Managing Partner Jason Payne, Players Turf is
different from all the other synthetic turfs on the market -- from the ground
up. "We consult with our customers to find out what they're looking for in a
synthetic golfing surface, and then custom design and install our exclusive
Players Turf system to provide outstanding play and lasting performance,"
Payne explained. "We have 29 different turf products that are blended in a
26-Step Site Preparation and Installation Process."
As a result of the company's exceptional attention to detail, Players Turf
receives an approach shot "just like real grass" and provides a true putting
roll (speed and direction of break can be adjusted by rolling to simulate
varying conditions).
"Our state-of-the-art turf products have more tips per square inch than
any other product on the market," Payne said, "and instead of sand and silica,
which can settle and compact, our infill system uses specialized mono-
crystalline quartz that is manufactured exclusively for Players Turf
International."
If the Players Turf synthetic turf system sounds sophisticated, that's
because it is ... but the result is a purely enjoyable and natural feeling
golf experience. To find out more, and put it to the test for yourself, stop
by the PGA Merchandise Show's Equipment Testing Center (ETC) that dominates
the main Hall A. As you are trying out the latest club or ball from a leading
equipment manufacturer, you'll also be experiencing Players Turf from tee to
green, and everywhere in between.
