DETROIT, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Metro Chapter of the Society
of Professional Journalists and the Detroit Free Press are co-sponsoring a
"debriefing" of the newspaper's team of war correspondents in Iraq.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 5, on the
second floor of the newspaper's office at 600 West Fort in Detroit. The
meeting is open to SPJ members and other journalists, including students,
throughout southeast Michigan.
Detroit Free Press journalists who will report to their colleagues and
answer questions on what it was like include reporter Nancy Youssef,
photographers Eric Seals and Chip Somodevilla, and artist Rich Johnson.
Some were embedded with various American military units during last spring's
invasion of Iraq while others were credentialed to cover stories on their own.
Free pizza, salad and soft drinks will be provided. Reservations are not
required but would be helpful to the sponsors in determining how much food to
order. RSVP or questions to Tony Malta at 586/739-7808.
