New Model Offers Ability to Showcase Personalized Pictures and Artwork
CHICAGO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Delivering on its promise of bringing
stylish design and increased functionality into all of its home appliance
products, LG Electronics, the world's leading air conditioner manufacturer,
today unveiled a first-of-its-kind, picture-frame air conditioner as part of
its popular ART COOL product line. The ART COOL line is LG's premium, design-
oriented air conditioner series, which also includes renditions of classic art
pieces by famous painters such as Van Gogh and Sisley featured on the
product's front panel, transforming household white goods such as air
conditioners into stylish objects of art. The product will be on display for
the first time at the annual Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration
Exposition (AHR), January 23-25, 2006 in Chicago.
The new picture-frame air conditioner allows consumers to display a
favorite picture, drawing or any type of printed image -- up to approximately
17-by-17 inches -- under its transparent front panel, adding a personal touch
to any room, while still increasing air quality and comfort on a hot summer
day. Pictures can be changed whenever the consumer desires by simply opening
the panel and replacing the image.
"The ART COOL picture-frame air conditioner is a fresh approach enabling
consumers to incorporate their own taste and style into what was once an
ordinary home appliance," said Soon Kwon, President of Digital Appliances for
LG Electronics, U.S.A. "The evolution of our ART COOL line continues to
redefine consumers' perceptions, combining cutting-edge technology and stylish
designs that meet the needs of today's consumers."
This innovative 'work of art' provides consumers with more unique features
than conventional air conditioners available on the market today. The LG ART
COOL's interior, wall-mounted evaporator is slim and lightweight, providing
cool, crisp air to any room. The outdoor condensing unit provides quiet
operation, making it neighbor-friendly.
The LG ART COOL is the only duct-free air conditioning series offering a
'Chaos Swing' feature -- a three-way airflow with computer-controlled vanes
that simulate a natural breeze. This feature creates a more natural flow of
air to eliminate hot or cold spots from a room. The system also features an
ultra-quiet fan and motor, making it the preferred choice for any space within
the home, bedroom, office, school, health center, etc.
The LG ART COOL line also features the Plasma Air Purifying System, which
removes air impurities -- such as microscopic containments, dust, pet hair and
pollen -- for a healthier living environment. It also includes a
dehumidifying feature, which quickly removes excess moisture from interior
spaces. Other key features include:
* Jet Cool option to provide speedy and powerful cooling to a warm room in
30 minutes
* Auto Restart to restart the unit to its previous settings in case of a
power failure
* Sleep Mode function which automatically adjusts temperature settings to
create a more comfortable sleeping environment
* 24-Hour Timer to automatically turn the unit on and off at different
intervals during the day
The new picture-frame air conditioner will be available in April 2006 in
two different BTU levels, including 9,000 BTUs and 12,000 BTUs, with suggested
manufacturer's retail prices ranging from $2,500 to $3,000. Other ART COOL
models are available now in three different BTU levels, including 9,000 BTUs,
12,000 BTUs and 18,000 BTUs, in a variety of colors and finishes, with
suggested manufacturer's retail prices ranging from $2,000 to $2,500.
LG has maintained the global number one position in residential air
conditioner sales for the past six years. In 2005 alone, LG sold more than 10
million units accounting for the largest market share in the world.
