The Andersons, Inc. Outlines Strong Income Growth

                Projects 2005 Full-Year EPS of $3.30 to $3.37

MAUMEE, Ohio, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Andersons, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ANDE), today announced that it expects 2005 full-year earnings in the
range of $3.30 to $3.37 per diluted share. Earlier this month, the company
indicated it anticipated that earnings per diluted share for the period would
exceed $3.00. In 2004, the company earned $2.55 per diluted share.
According to President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Anderson, "Two
weeks ago, we indicated that our fourth quarter results would be very good due
to exceptionally strong operating performances in our grain and rail
businesses, sale of some railcar assets and improving results in our plant
nutrient and retail businesses. While the final numbers won't be available
until early February, it now appears that our net income for the most recent
quarter will far surpass not only our previous year's fourth quarter
performance, but any quarter in our company's history."
The Andersons, Inc. is a diversified company with interests in the grain,
ethanol and plant nutrient sectors of U.S. agriculture, as well as in railcar
marketing, industrial products formulation, turf products production, and
general merchandise retailing. Founded in Maumee, Ohio, in 1947, the company
now has operations in seven U.S. states plus rail equipment leasing interests
in Canada and Mexico.
